Law Office of Joana Kaso: Law Firm Branding, Built at Launch
Client & scope
The Law Office of Joana Kaso, PLLC is a boutique Westchester firm practicing family and matrimonial law, immigration, social security disability, real estate, business formation and estate planning. Design Land NYC created the firm's identity before it opened its doors and has been its design department ever since: logo and brand system, letterhead and Word templates, business cards, email signature, branded meeting backgrounds, a social content library, newspaper advertising, practice-area flyers, an e-book, and a refreshed mark as the practice grew.
The problem
A brand-new solo firm has no reputation to trade on. It competes against established names with marketing budgets, for clients making one of the most consequential decisions of their lives. The brand had to read as serious enough to trust with an immigration case or a divorce, warm enough to stand behind the firm's own promise — Because We Care — and flexible enough to carry a practice whose areas and audiences kept widening: clients who find a lawyer in a community newspaper, and clients who find one on a phone.
What we did
We built the identity around the attorney's own name and signature rather than a generic legal mark — in a practice this personal, the name is the product. Then we extended it into every surface a small firm actually uses: letterhead and Word templates the staff could type into, business cards reissued when the firm moved to a larger office, branded backgrounds when consultations went remote, a library of social graphics with its own gradient system, and print ads placed where the firm's community already reads. Flyers were built one practice area at a time — special immigrant juvenile status, student visas, and more — so the firm could speak to a single situation instead of listing services. As the practice matured the mark was refreshed rather than replaced.
What happened
The firm passed its fifth anniversary, and we designed the campaign that marked it. It grew from a launch into a staffed practice in a larger Westchester office, and it carries one of the strongest public review records of any firm its size in the county. Design Land NYC has been its designer for every one of those five years: one identity, held across print, social, advertising and the office, through a refresh and a move.
