Walsh Valdes Productions: Logo & On-Air Identity for a Children’s TV Program

Client & scope

Walsh Valdés Productions is a New York production company whose children’s program aired on a national children’s network. Designland designed the production company logo and carried it into the title and opening card for the show.

The problem

A production logo for children’s television has a hard job. It flashes on screen for a few seconds, often in motion, and it has to be bold enough for kids and clean enough for broadcast. It also has to work everywhere else the company shows up: credits, pitch materials, the website, a business card.

What we did

The mark. We designed a bold, playful logo built to read at any size, from a full-screen open to a small credit.

Color and light studies. Because the logo would live on screen, we tested it in a series of color moods (dawn, golden hour, dusk and a deep night version) before settling on the final look, so it would hold up against whatever footage it sits on.

Title and opening card. We carried the mark into the on-screen open, so the program’s first seconds match the logo.

Logo kit. We delivered the final as a full set of components, with light and dark versions and transparent files, ready for editors, print and web.

What happened

The program aired on a national children’s network, opening on the identity we designed.
